CALL TO WORLD DAY OF ACTION

JANUARY 26, 2008

After the successful first ever United States Social Forum (USSF) in
Atlanta, Georgia during June 27 to July 1, 2007 the ?Peoples? Movement
Assembly? (PMA) was established to continue and carry out the movement
building process.

The PMA in conjunction with the World Social Forum (WSF)/International
Council, join in the CALL for action for January 26, 2008 designated as a
?World Day of Action?.

The PMA invites ALL movement based organizations, networks, alliances, etc.
to join and organize an action for that day. The actions are focused but
not exclusive to the six thematic areas identified for the US Social Forum:
War, militarism and incarceration in the Prison Industrial Complex;
Immigrants & Migration; Workers in a globalized economy; Women, liberation
and sexuality; Indigenous Sovereignty, environmental, energy & climate
justice; Gulf Coast Survivors of Katrina & Rita and the right of return.
The last time a World Day of Action took place was in February 15, 2003
designated as a Day to protest the War in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is
estimated 38 million people took part in the protest on that day.

We urge ALL movement organizations, networks and alliances to make a
commitment to mobilize on January 26, 2008 and to register their assembly
with the PMA. Resolutions will be accepted by the Peoples? Movement
Assembly.
