What: Rally sponsored by Teamsters Local 805 and the Teamsters Joint Council 16 to support Fresh Direct Workers' organizing drive with Local 805.

When: 8:00AM-10:00AM Friday, September 28.

Where: Borden Avenue and 23rd Street, Long Island City. Take the 7 train to Hunters Point or the G to 21 Street. Then walk south down 21st street, follow the walkway underneath the BQE and over the railroad tracks. Then continue on to Borden Avenue.

Why: IBT Local 805, a rank-and-file local of the teamsters, launched an organizing drive four months ago with the help of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW). IWW organizers ask for your support and solidarity with Fresh Direct workers as they fight off management intimidation and collusion with a corrupt company union, UFCW Local 348-S. Two workers have already been terminated in retaliation for their support of 805. The Fresh Direct warehouse desperately needs a union: workers face constant temperatures under 40 degrees and lack proper equipment, deal with sexual harassment, make wages barely above minimum, and are sometimes forced to work up to 14 or 15 hours in one shift.

Come out and show your support. For more information, contact Teamsters Local 805 at (718) 609-6401 or Alex at (201) 388-9887.
