Syndicalism Meetup Group!
What: Chomsky+Wayne Price on how best to subvert authority.
Vote? Protest? Strike?
When: Tuesday, January 23, 7:00 PM
Where: Click the link below to find out!
Event Description: Our last conversation focused on the central
debate between Bakunin and Marx. Is it worth it at all to
participate in parliamentary democracy or to subvert it
altogether?
Our member, Wayne Price wrote an essay on exactly that topic
entitled "None of the Above: The Anarchist Case Against
Electoralism". You can download it by clicking on the 'Files'
link in the column to the far left of the screen.
Chomsky wrote much on how best to organize and bring about
change. An essay of his on anarchy and an excerpt from his book
will be available under 'Files' by 12pm on Friday the 12th.
We'll discuss these excellent arguments!
Also, some members expressed interest in listening to (or
reading) Chomsky's brilliant speech from 1970 in which he
explains very specifically why he subscribes to the idea of
Anarcho-syndicalism as opposed to State Socialism and State
Capitalism. Here is a link to the speech: http://www.chomsky.info/audionvideo/19700216.mp3. He also wrote
an essay which is almost word for word the same as the speech
called "Notes on anarchism". Here is a link to that essay: http://www.chomsky.info/articles/1970----.htm.
