Hello everyone,
First, I wanted to say that I had a truly fantastic time at the last GA. The energy and enthusiasm everyone showed was really fantastic and I hope we get the chance to gather and discuss again. This is probably the first GA that ended with me wanting to go to another. :)
As some of you know, I am very interested in creating an anarchist timeline focused on the NYC metropolitan area. I want to create long term achievable goals that contribute to an overall revolutionary strategy and improve the daily lives of every day New Yorkers as well as other revolutionaries. In short, I want to help create (as Andy named it) a Project for a New Anarchist Century!
If anyone is interested in getting together to have a discussion about these and other topics, please e-mail me off-list at typhoon921@gmail.com.
As for our discussion at the GA:
We ran into an intriguing dichotomy while discussing anarchist strategy last Saturday. There seems to be a divide between a school of thought that's interested in spreading anarchist propaganda and ideals within mainstream movements and another school of thought that's interested in creating alternate roles and structures that exist within and challenge authoritarian and capitalist structures.
To me, this, much like the divide between "structure" and "action", is a false dichotomy - both are reliant upon one another, and neither is mutually exclusive.
