We're now back on the second Wednesday of the month, the day of the national Oil Awareness meetup.
At the August meetup, there was a large and lively discussion of political turmoil in the Mideast, and the Prudhoe Bay pipeline closing.
We are refining our approach to relocalization, within NYC, and in other suburban and rural areas. Bill Burke pulled together these various strands into a comprehensive and well thought out three-part program, and he's adding more great links every week. Please review it at www.peakoilnyc.org.
If you want to retrofit NYC, Lois and I are working with various environmental, transportation and energy policy groups on initiatives to reduce fossil fuel use. We'll hook you up.
If you are more called to suburban and rural areas, that's fine too - there's a list of common issues in retrofitting these areas for fuel depletion as well.
Upcoming events:
PO Book Club on Tues., Aug. 29
Presentation on Permaculture, Thurs. Sept. 21
