Fifth Annual NYC Grassroots Media Conference

March 2, 2008 at Hunter College

For the past four years, we’ve explored the political dimensions of media and how it shapes our lives. In developing relationships between community and media organizations, the NYC Grassroots Media Coalition is working to re-imagine issues of access to, control of, and power over our media system. That means defining our struggle as a struggle for Media Justice.

The meeting will take place at the the Muste Room (Room #306, Buzzer #11) in the A.J. Muste Institute, which is located at 339 Lafayette Street at the northeast corner of Bleecker Street in Manhattan. The closest subway stop is the Bleecker Street 6.

All NYMAA members are encouraged to participate in Nuts and Bolts meetings, potential NYMAA members and the merely curious are welcome too.

Working through non-profits, autonomous collectives, small socialist or
anarchist organizations, today's generation of anti-capitalist organizers
is bumping up against the limits of existing left forms--just as the 1960s
generation did under different conditions 40 years ago. Learning from past
successes and failures, can we identify fruitful approaches for making a
leap toward a more coherent radical movement in the next two-to-five
years?
